FAQ
Why Steel?
When you compare all roofing products you will find that steel has a very long and successful history of performance while being generally cost competitive. It will add a distinctive elegance to your home or building while providing many other benefits.
How Long Will It Last?
Steel requires minimal maintenance and should last as long as your home or building.
Is It Noisy When It Rains?
Metal Roofing is available in many esthetically pleasing designs. The shape and design of the metal along with the winning combination of high performance finishes reduces noise, but the insulation in your home or building attic ultimately absorbs and deadens the greatest majority of noise. You should not notice any difference between roofing materials.
How Does The Overall Cost Of Steel Compare With Asphalt?
You really cannot compare the two. A steel roof is a lifetime roofing system with minimal maintenance while an asphalt roof has a short life span and may need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years.
Will Steel Roofs Heat Up The Attic?
The unique properties of metal are such that they absorb and dissipate heat quickly. It is important to remember that insulation and proper ventilation will play a key role in the temperature of your attic.
Should I Be Concerned About Lightning?
The answer is no! Metal roofing systems will not increase the risk of lightening striking your home. In evaluating the risk with any structure it is the “probability” of a strike which is based on Location (i.e. location to other structures). There are protection systems available which can help reduce the consequences of lightening striking your building but again it is not related to the type of roofing material.
